Corel has introduced CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3, which includes more than 40 new and enhanced features. Geared toward design professionals as well as occasional business users, teachers, and students, the graphics program comprises not only CorelDraw X3, the core graphic-design and page-layout product; but also: Corel Photo-Paint X3, for image-editing; Corel Capture X3, a new screen-capture utility; and Pixmantec RawShooter Essentials, to convert digital images in RAW format (supports Nikon, Olympus, and Canon, among other camera RAW file formats, as well as Adobe DNG).
For designers and other graphic-arts professionals, some of the key new features in X3 include:
“? a newly added Image Adjustment Lab, to work on files having poor color balance and contrast;
“? the addition of Corel PowerTrace integrated with X3, which allows users to quickly and easily convert bitmaps into editable vector graphics;
“? the ability to create and modify images that contain spot colors;
“? improved color management, allowing users to control whether the color mode used for effects is RGB or CMYK;
“? an enhanced Pantone color palette including Transparent White, as well as updated CMYK equivalents of spot colors; and
“? an enhanced performance for Corel Photo-Paint.
Suite X3 also includes more than 10,000 clip art and digital images, 1000 OpenType fonts, and 100 creative templates.
