In their new tabloid-sized catalog entitled CROP, stock-photo-agency Corbis goes to great lengths to prove that image size does matter. Measuring 19 x 26 in. when folded and 38 x 26 in. when opened, CROP includes some of the most awe-inspiring images from the company's extensive collections of news, creative, editorial, celebrity, historical, and art photos. Featured photographers include Peter Turnley, Alan Noges, Doublad Kirkland, Michael Prince, and Paul Edmonson.
So designers can see how print-surface texture can contribute to the visual impact of images, CROP is printed on a variety of paper stocks. A limited number of copies were printed and delivered to selected agencies and clients in March.
According to Joe Barrett, Corbis' vice president of global marketing, “CROP isn't intended as an order book, but rather as a declaration. We wanted to smash the industry mold and provide our advertising and design-agency clients with near-life-size images that viscerally and visually inspire their conceptual creativity.
