Clemson University's Department of Graphic Communications (CUGC) is conducting a Color Measurement and Management Symposium Oct. 8-10 in Clemson, SC. During the 2 1/2 -day meeting, industry experts will explain and share their understanding of color-management systems and the controls necessary to make them work.
The symposium is for industry professionals who need to effectively communicate and reproduce color. Participants will learn about: the workflow for color reproduction; the calibration and use of color measurement devices; techniques for profiling scanners, digital cameras, computer monitors, proofing systems, and presses; and the application of these tools and techniques to ensure consistent and repeatable color reproduction.
In addition, an “across-the-printing-process” workflow will be considered to include flexography, gravure, screen printing, inkjet, offset lithography, and other printing processes. A full schedule of speakers and topics can be found on the CUGC website.
Clemson University's Department of Graphic Communications features fully functional printing facilities in which students acquire firsthand knowledge of all phases of production for flexography, offset lithography, screen-printing, gravure, and digital-printing. More than 450 students are currently enrolled in the department's programs. (Clemson University Department of Graphic Communications: 864-656-6897, http://graphics.clemson.edu)
