Beta Testing Begins on Nur Tempo

NUR Macroprinters has begun beta testing its NUR Tempo flatbed inkjet press. The Tempo, which uses UV-curable inks, has a 3.2- x 2-m (10 1/2- x 6 1/2-ft) table for a wide range of rigid substrates but is also built to handle rolled substrates. It can switch between 4- and 8-color printing and is available with an optional feeding and stacking system. Nur is positioning the printer as an alternative to screen printing presses for many applications”?especially short-run, on-demand projects. In addition to standard rolled media, it can print on corrugated board, foamboard, paperboard, acrylic sheets, PVC, polycarbonate, glass, and wood.

Beta testing is underway at two sites in Europe”?Gescom S.p.A. of Viterbo, Italy and Stiefel Digitalprint GmbH in Lenting, Germany”?and at one site in the US”?Impact Imaging in Kaysville, UT.

According to Dan Griesemer, president and CEO of Impact Imaging, “We decided to beta test the Tempo as the first step in our strategy to expand the range of services we offer. With a sales force strategically located across the US, we're looking to develop new business based on printing on a broader range of materials.”

Stiefel Digitalprint originated as a publisher of wall maps and has since branched out into planning calendars, related school supplies, and indoor and outdoor signage. Company owner Heinrich Stiefel notes that, “Because we use such a wide variety of sizes and materials in our main map printing business, we needed a versatile machine that could also provide crisp, readable text.”

Gescom supplies short-run, large-format graphics to screen-printing firms and commercial printing companies in Italy, the U.K., Spain and France. The company's expertise includes point-of-sale banners, self-adhesive vinyl signs, vehicle wraps, mesh wraps for building sites, and exhibition graphics. Company owner Dr. Ettore Segatori believes “This new and highly versatile machine will help us attract new business and broaden the range of services we offer to our current customers.”

According to Nur, beta tests are expected to last three months, and commercial shipments are planned to begin in September. (NUR Macroprinters: www.nur.com)
