NBA superstar LeBron James decided to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers (again) to head to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018. Although he was met with less fan uproar upon this second departure from his hometown team (when LeBron first left Cleveland to go to the Miami Heat in 2010, Cavs fans famously burned jerseys in anger), it was still a noteworthy move in the world of pro basketball for one of the sport’s greatest players. 

Nike rolled out the red carpet to welcome the NBA superstar – who has an endorsement deal with the brand – with a graphic takeover in downtown LA in October to kick off the 2018/2019 season. Elite Media tapped BPGraphics, a wide-format print service provider specializing in massive projects, to print the nearly 60,000 square feet of graphics that were splashed across six walls on three buildings. Graphics were imaged with an HP Latex 3600 onto Contra Vision and 3M films, and then cut with a Zünd. Installers had to work around a busy downtown environment and needed to minimize disruption to the people inside the buildings being covered with window graphics. To accommodate the installation schedule, BPGraphics maintained a carefully coordinated production plan to print and ship the various project components in the proper order, while ensuring that each huge ad remained cohesive across printing.
