Be Digital, based in Madrid, Spain, showed
several new inkjet printers at this year's
Viscom Paris show: BD Terminator, Marabu,
and Vancat.
The BD Terminator is a drop-on-demand
piezo-electric printer with 360
nozzle piezo heads. It provides 6-color or
CMYK x 2-color printing with SolBejet nonaggressive
solvent inks and dynamic variable-
dot imaging. The 90-in. machine
offers a 4-stage heating control system for
increased print quality and wider media
compatibility. In addition, resolutions
range from 360 x 360 to 1440 x 1440 dpi
and speeds from 64 sq ft/hr in quality
mode to 376 sq ft/hr in draft mode. Be Digital
claims durability up to 3 years outdoor,
as well as water-, scratch-, and UV-resistance.
The Terminator produces P-O-P displays,
banners, signage, long-term graphics,
building and construction barriers,
vehicle graphics, and more.
The Marabu is a 64-in., 6-color, rollfed
solvent inkjet printer designed to print
outdoor banners. It features resolutions
up to 720 x 720 dpi and, at 4 passes, outputs
at a rate of 172 sq ft/hr. The Marabu
incorporates 3 air dryers for very fast drying,
a four-mode rewinding system, and
inks in 1-liter cartridges.
The prototype for the Vancat UV printer
is a 98-in. roll and flatbed inkjet. It utilizes
UV-curable inks in a 3 x 4 or 2 x 6 configuration
with 12 Spectra 256 nozzle heads.
The Vancat has a maximum resolution of
600 dpi and, at that resolution, reaches
speeds of up to 538 sq ft/hr.
