Backdrop Designer, from Digital Anarchy, is a new plug-in that allows photographers to create a variety of backgrounds for use in product shots, portraiture, and other commercial photography or design. Designed for Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and other Photoshop-compatible applications, Backdrop Designer ships with more than 600 pre-made textures that simulate muslin drapes, the physical backdrop traditionally used in studios.
The plug-in is designed to be used with the company's Primatte Chromakeyer, another plug-in that removes the typically green or solid blue backgrounds from photographs. Once a transparency area has been created around the subject, Backdrop Designer can be used to generate a custom background, minimizing the need for an expensive collection of traditional muslin or canvas backgrounds.
Cost: $199; $169 until August 30. (Digital Anarchy: www.digitalanarchy.com)
