You Could Have Fooled Me
We photograph and reproduce artwork for our clients. One afternoon, I got a call from a client who was at a show exhibiting his and several other artists’ work and he had just finished talking to an interested collector. He spent 15 minutes pointing out features of his artwork to the person… the use of color, brush strokes, and all the myriad things you point out to a potential art buyer. He was almost finished with his presentation when he realized he had been pointing to one of our prints, not his original! He was so surprised that he took a break as soon as the client left and called me to tell me all about it. He raved about how impressed he was. I told him we have terrific craftsmen working for us. I told my team all about it and how proud I was of them. If you can fool the artist, you are doing everything right!
