Alamy Images Adds Andre Jenny Portfolio

Alamy Images, a stock-photo agency that combines leading-edge imaging technologies with hard-to-find content, now offers 9000 pictures of well-known and lesser-known US travel destinations captured by Swiss travel photographer Andre Jenny.

Jenny noticed that most US photographers only covered the popular tourist destinations–overlooking the distinct character and diversity of different regions. “US guidebooks publish notes on sites of interest in every town but there really weren't any great pictures to illustrate these distinct features,” says Jenny. “It's usually the big cities and key landmarks that get significant attention. I wanted to capture a side of America seldom photographed, as well as more popular locations familiar to travelers.”

Jenny first got the “off-the-beaten-track” bug when he hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. He then traveled extensively across the country, shooting towns and scenic landscapes from most of the US, including New England, the mid-Atlantic, the Great Lakes and Great Plains regions, the Southeast and the Midwest. Photo highlights include cultural pictures of Amish people and various aspects of everyday life in Pennsylvania's Lancaster County.

Alamy Images, launched in February 2001, provides hundreds of thousands of royalty-free and traditionally licensed images from more than 1300 photographers and 100 agencies. The company offers an interpolation service that makes it possible to increase the resolution of an image without affecting its quality. Its website is among the fastest in the business, for rapid delivery of search results. An Easy Download tools makes high-resolution images available for presentation use to select customers.
