Rolling With the Punches 

THE UFC GYM IN Rosemead, California, needed a fresh look to match its brand’s fierce professional fighting aesthetic. One of the sport’s most prominent figures, Conor McGregor, now hovers above the cardio room with a raised fist while a packed arena looks on. This primetime image was created by Lucent Graphic Solutions based in Costa Mesa, California, but the shop had to dodge a few punches before completing the project.

Lucent Graphic Solutions planned on printing the graphics on wallcovering media to prevent any overlaps in the installation, however the walls had to be coated with primer that wouldn’t allow the wallcovering paste to adhere properly. So, the team turned to Arlon DPF 8200 high tack film and Arlon 3420 satin laminate. They printed the graphics, totaling more than 70 feet wide, on an OKI ColorPainter M64s printer. Now all the UFC gym members have to do is look up to be inspired.
