The Jobfilm
“Bienvenue” and “Willkommen” greeted more than 105,000 visitors as they entered Tower City Cinemas at the 2019 Cleveland International Film Festival, which promotes artistically and culturally significant films. Organizers of the 43rd annual fest wanted to create a warm and inviting space for attendees that aligned with this year’s “Welcome” theme. They looked to the team at Repros, a large-format print service provider, as well as Type Twenty Seven Design and Letterpress, a graphic design firm, to complete the project.

Brittyn Dewerth, owner and creative director of Type Twenty Seven worked with Repros to create window, wall, and floor graphics to transform the space. Filmmakers and attendees passed graphics featuring images of people from many countries with corresponding “welcome” text in the individual’s primary language. Keith Berr Productions, event photographer, captured the photos. Floor graphics provided directional indicators for guests while reinforcing the festival theme.

Production
The team used Mactac Imagin B-free Frosted Window Film JX5796MBF for the window graphics. For the walls, they opted for Imagin Roodle Removable Wall Graphics RO628W54L100 and Macmark Mactransfer Application Tape. The directional floor graphics were imaged onto Rebel Removable Multi-Print Media RB528RW54L150 and overlaid with Permacolor PermaFlex Textured Laminate PF6554. Repros printed all of the graphics using an HP Latex 3000. The collaborative effort created a venue transformation, spelling “welcome” in any language.

“The ability to die cut the material allowed us to focus light while blocking out the distant scenery – resulting in beautiful typography stretching across the floor as the day progressed.” – Brittyn Dewerth, owner and creative director, Type Twenty Seven
