Wacom has introduced an Intuos3 4×6 pen tablet to join its 6 x 11-in. and 12 x 19-in. models. The tablet is designed for photographers, designers, and artists seeking optimal pen control and comfort when working with a widescreen display, and provides 20% more active area than the model it replaces (Intuos3 4×5).

As with the rest of the Intuos3 tablets, the new 4×6 version can control Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter, and other leading software applications with its four programmable ExpressKeys and one finger-sensitive Touch Strip. The Touch Strip is located on the left side of the tablet surface within easy reach for modifier keys, keyboard shortcuts, scrolling, zooming, controlling brush size, and more.

The cordless, battery-free Grip Pen offers 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and, when used alternately with the ergonomic five-button Intuos3 mouse, helps reduces repetitive motion.

Other features include: new Windows Vista-enabled note-taking resources, handwriting recognition, and time-saving gesture control options. All versions of Vista (except Home Basic) provide complete pen functionality, offering communication and navigation benefits.

The Intuos3 4×6 ships with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4, Corel Painter Essentials 3, Nik Color Efex Pro 2 IE and Wacom Brushes 2. MSRP: $229.95.
