Soft signage was the missing piece in Mercedes-AMG's 70 showrooms across the country.

A brand-new Mercedes-AMG may look cool on its own, but the right accompanying signage can take the car to the next level. Millwork and graphics provider i.M. Branded was tasked with doing just that for more than 70 showrooms across the nation. The client “wanted a clearly-delineated space carved out of the existing showrooms that draws attention, impacts, and informs customers about these cars that are the pinnacle of Mercedes’ engineering prowess,” explains Leslie McLain, i.M. Branded director, graphics division.

The shop created a display incorporating a millwork wall, backlit graphics, and floor graphics that could be replicated across dealerships. The backlit graphics were output with a Mimaki TS500P-3200 onto Beaver TexPrint paper and then transferred to Ultraflex Vortex T202 Backlit Event fabric with a Klieverik GTC 3400, totaling 95 square feet of print for each display. i.M. Branded imaged the floor graphics – 305 square feet per display – with an HP Latex 3500 onto 3M Envision Print Wrap Film LX480MC with 3M Envision Gloss Wrap Overlaminate 8549L. Soft signage has proven to be a reliable application in the automotive OEM industry, McLain adds: “We have seen soft signage as a major component for many years and see backlit being utilized more.”
