Triangle Digital Inx introduced two new badged wide-format inkjet printers at the recent SGIA show-the solvent-based San Francisco and the UV-curable Milano printers. Joining the company’s BlueStreak (Triangle’s wide-format uber-upgrade of Nur’s older Blueboard printers), the new printers are sourced from Italy’s Anteprima SRL, the European wide-format division of Triangle Digital.

The San Francisco, available in sizes from 98 to 126 in., is equipped with eight or 12 Spectra Galaxy 256 printheads, which produce 50-pl drops. Compatible with vinyl, banner, paper, and textiles, the machine images in 4 (CMYK or CMYK x 2) or 6 colors (CMYKcm x 2) and features print resolutions from 360 to 800 dpi. Print speeds range from a top speed of 753 sq ft/hr in 4-color (CMYK x 2) Draft mode to 161 sq ft/hr in High Quality 6-color mode.

Standard is Triangle’s TriPoint Postscript RIP. The San Francisco also offers an automatic printhead cleaning system, a tension-control media handling system, and a media preheating and drying system.

Model numbers indicate the printer size (250 for 98-in. models and 320 for 126-in. machines) and describe the color configuration (4c for 4-color and 4 heads; 6c for 6-color and 6 heads; and 4Dc for 4-color and 8 heads). San Francisco models include 2504c, 2506c, 2504Dc, 3204c, 3206c, 3204Dc.

Prices range from $79,000 to $109,000; US distribution in Q1 2008.

The Milano is a UV-curable hybrid flatbed and rollfed printer available in 80- and 98-in. versions. Armed with 16 or 24 Spectra 128S heads, producing 50-pl drops, the 4- (CMYK x 4) or 6-color (CMYKcm x 4) printer offers resolutions from 300 to 800 dpi. It’s compatible with vinyl, banner, polyethylene (including Triangle’s Ecos recyclable PE), paper, textiles, and panels; media handling is through a tension-control system.

Top speeds for the 4-color printer is 431 sq ft/hr in Draft mode, 323 sq ft/hr in Standard mode, 215 sq ft/hr in Quality mode, and 161 sq ft/hr in High Quality mode.

Users can choose from Colorgate or Onyx RIPs.
