John Hall has launched Treck Hall Wide Format, a supplier of wide-format media and inks, including lines from Epson, HP, Ilford, Neschen, and others. The new company has offices in Toronto and Vancouver.

Hall has roots in the Canadian graphics-arts market: His grandfather founded Treck Hall Limited – the distributor of photographic, large-format inkjet, and digital-imaging supplies and equipment to the Canadian graphics marketplace – and his father operated the business for approximately 40 years. Hall became president of the company in 2002 and then served as vice-president of sales with Mondrian-Hall when Treck Hall merged with Mondrian Canada. In 2009, Unisource Canada acquired Mondrian-Hall, and Hall assumed the title of general sales manager.

“I quite simply want to concentrate and focus solely on wide-format media and ink,” says Hall. “I’m still building my portfolio but at this time I have several products for aqueous, solvent, latex, eco solvent, and UV. This includes things like photo paper, backlit, tradeshow display products, canvas, fine-art, adhesive vinyl, laminates, and miscellaneous other products. Although I have a lot of experience in the equipment business, I will not be selling any equipment.”
