Tiara has reduced the price of its Opal 63 solvent-based inkjet printer to $19,995, including the take-up reel. The six-color Opal 63 prints on media up to 61 in. wide at up to 60 sq ft/hr at photo quality up to 1440 x 720 dpi.

Because the device uses true solvent-based inks, users of the Opal 63 can save money on materials by outputting outdoor-durable graphics directly onto normal, uncoated sign-making materials.
Depending on the type of material used and where the graphics are displayed, images output on the Opal can last up to five years outdoors without noticeable fading.

“For the small and mid-sized graphic producer, this price reduction throws open an affordable widow to solvent ink-based imaging,” says Jerry Fitch, operations manager at Tiara US. “The Opal 63 is a proven, productive machine; and as the applications it handles represent an increasingly important part of the market for the small and mid-sized user, the ability to meet them with better quality at lower production costs will prove to be a competitive advantage for many.”

Tiara US is the inkjet-printer subsidiary of Lyson, Inc., which is the North American operation of Lyson Ltd, a privately held UK-based company that develops and manufactures inkjet inks. (Tiara US: www.tiarasystems.com)
