'The Big Picture' Names Tom Zeit as Editor

Will helm the leading publication and website for print providers.

ST Media Group International, publishers of five trade journals for the visual-communications industries, has announced that Tom Zeit will join its staff as editor of The Big Picture magazine beginning with the January 2008 issue.

In his new role, Zeit will be responsible for the editorial content of The Big Picture, the leading publication in the digital-printing industry read by more than 32,000 professional print providers. Zeit also will be responsible for the magazine's accompanying website, (, with weekly updates covering the latest news in digital printing, and for the magazine's twice-monthly newsletter, 'DigitalEdge.' He will manage the four-person editorial staff of managing editor Peggy Middendorf, assistant editors Clare Baker and Angela Prues, and art director Jaxon Cook.

Zeit is the former editor of The Artist's Magazine, the world's leading magazine for working artists, and also has held executive editor positions with The Pastel Journal and Watercolor Magic magazine. In addition, he has served as associate editor with the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at the University of Minnesota, and has held instructor positions with the University of Minnesota's Department of English and with Marion Technical College in Marion, Ohio. He holds a master's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor's degree in English from Syracuse University.

'We're very pleased to have Tom Zeit join our team,' said Gregory Sharpless, associate publisher of The Big Picture and Screen Printing magazines. 'He will bring a fresh perspective to the magazine as well as an editorial voice that will resonate well within the marketplace. The Big Picture is read by digital-imaging operations of all shapes and sizes, and Tom's experience will enable him to generate information that will benefit businesses ranging from production-oriented corporations to small shops.'

'This is a cutting-edge industry that's constantly moving forward,' said Zeit, 'and The Big Picture is unmatched in its ability to keep its finger on the pulse of the business and give readers exactly what they need to stay competitive. I'm thrilled to be joining this team, and I'm eager to help make the magazine-more than ever before-the one that industry leaders can't wait to receive every month.'

The Big Picture, launched in 1997, is the industry's number-one publication covering wide-format graphics. The magazine features comprehensive technology updates, highlights creative applications in the field, provides proven business strategies for using the technology successfully, and goes beyond the press releases to provide depth and perspective in a rapidly changing industry. In 2008, the magazine will celebrate its 100th issue.
