Tamron Upgrades Lenses for Digital Use

Tamron has upgraded several of its lenses for use with digital SLR and film cameras. Both its AF28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical (IF) Macro (Model A031) and its AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 (Model A17) now feature a Di (digitally integrated) optical system that allows them to be used for both digital SLR and film cameras.

The A031 is a high-powered zoom lens, while the A17 is a lightweight, compact, high-image-quality telephoto lens with macro capability of 1:2. Both lenses feature internal surface coatings to reduce ghosting and flare, as well as a black coating over the entire lens barrel to create a high-quality, professional look.

In addition, Tamron has announced the company's “It's a Wild World contest,” which seeks the best pictures that include animals. All pictures must be taken with a Tamron lens; the contest is open to both professional and amateur photographers. Submissions will be judged on originality and overall quality; entries must be received by October 31, 2006. The prize is a Tamron AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II Aspherical (IF) Macro zoom lens.
