The Print Industries Market Information and Research Organization (PRIMIR) has announced that it is launching a new study titled, 'Sustainable Print in a Dynamic Market: What Gong Green Means.'

The study, to be completed in the fall of 2008, will define sustainability and identify the regulatory, economic, social, and environmental drivers impacting the players in the print-supply chain. In addition, the study will describe the key drivers for adopting green practices, and provide an assessment of how the printing and publishing industry ranks when compared with other industries as far as environmental impact. Plus, it will identify the scope and definition for 'carbon footprint' and 'environmental footprint' measurements compared with non-print communications.

In addition, PRIMIR has announced:

* 'Trends in Inkjet Technologies,' a just-released study that reviews current and emerging inkjet technologies and addresses growth trends and forecasts for inkjet-technology adoption through 2011. The study was previously available only to PRIMIR members.

* 'Benchmarking 2006 North American Printers & Consumables,' which benchmarks the 2006 consumption of paper, ink, blankets, toner, and plates for approximately 57,000 sites in the US and Canada. Sites using wide-format printers, digital production presses, and/or printing presses were evaluated and grouped into various market segments, including digital imaging services, commercial printers, in-plant printers, catalog printers, book printers, newspaper printers, and others.

Based in Reston, West Virginia, PRIMIR was formed in 2005 with the consolidation of the Graphic Arts Marketing Information Service (GAMIS) and the Market Research Committee of NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies. PRIMIR's member roster comprises manufacturers and suppliers of graphic-arts products and technologies, including companies such as Agfa, Canon USA, Eastman Kodak, HP, Oce, Screen USA, Sun Chemical, Xerox, and X-Rite.
