Student imagers were featured on the last day of the 2014 SGIA Expo (Las Vegas, October 22-24) in the Tom Frescka Student Printing Competition. The competition is named for the late Tom Frescka, editor of Screen Printing magazine from 1996-2009.

Entrants of the competition represent secondary and post-secondary students across 25 printing categories. Submissions were entered on behalf of the students by their graphic instructors for the 2013–2014 school year, and were eligible to win an Award of Excellence for first place in their category or a Certificate of Merit for an honorable mention. Award of Excellence winners were also eligible to win the “Best of Show” award in either the secondary or post-secondary division.

The 2014 “Best of Show” student winners are:
• Best of Show: Secondary
“Tilt” by Eddie Becerra, Paramount High School
• Best of Show: Post-Secondary
“Mola ‘Vision Tejida de la Realidad Kuna’” by Endir Nazry Roa Basto, Cenigraf – SENA

Entries are now being accepted for the 2015 Tom Frescka Student Printing Competition, and must be submitted by July 31, 2015.
