Upon walking into the lawn-and-garden area of Klem’s department store in Spencer, Massachusetts, customers may just think they somehow stepped back outside. They’re immediately confronted by images of thick, green grass along with the logo from Scotts Miracle-Gro Company. Farther down the aisle are images of bright, colorful flowers and more Scott’s products, including Ortho, Roundup, and others.

Klem’s and Scotts worked with Tailored Label Products (tailoredlabel.com) in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and with FlexCon (headquartered about a mile from Klem’s) to produce the impressive floor graphics. Tailored Labels utilized a digital press to output onto 900 square feet of FlexCon 6605/6600 FlexMark floor-art media. Install by Rob Ivers (robivers.com).

Klem’s used a similar floor-graphics/at-retail campaign last holiday season to feature a vivid branded zone for Carhartt outdoor clothing, resulting in a 31-percent increase in sales of the brand. The floor graphics, says Jessica Bettencourt, Klem’s general manager, have “transformed our store and made a huge, visual impact on customers without the use of costly fixed structures. These alternative advertising concepts continue to be a great success for Klem’s and for our vendors.”
