Nik Software has announced three new offerings, including a new program called Silver Efex Pro, an updated version of Dfine, and a software bundle for Apple’s Aperture system.

Silver Efex Pro, a new plug-in for Photoshop and Aperture, gives users the ability to transform color files into black-and-white images. It features imaging algorithms that protect against unwanted artifacts, a collection of 18 emulated black-and-white film types, and a grain engine that mimics the silver halide process. Like Nik’s other tools, Silver Efex Pro uses U Point technology to give users selective tonal and contrast control.

Dfine 2.1, the company’s color and contrast noise-reduction software plug-in, adds compatibility with Apple Aperture 2 and Smart Objects within Adobe Photoshop, as well as a new debanding control.

Complete Collection for Aperture offers versions of the Dfine 2.0, Viveza (for light and color control), Color Efex Pro 3.0 (a set of traditional and stylizing filters), Silver Efex Pro, and Sharpener Pro 3.0 (for selective sharpening of objects within images) photographic filters, bundled specifically for Apple’s photo-management and editing software.

Prices: Silver Efex Pro, $199.95; Dfine 2.1, free when downloaded as an upgrade; Complete Collection, $299.95.
