Based in Brazil and operating in the US and Latin America, SID Signs has jumped into the printer game with its SID XC and SID XE series printers. Both are rollfed solvent printers equipped with Seiko printheads that produce 35-pl drops for a 720-dpi resolution, offer the option of 4- or 6-color (CMYKcm) printing, and are built of cast aluminum. In addition, both offer the optional SAi PhotoPrint DX RIP and a fiber-optic cable interface.

The XC printer series features Seiko printheads with 510 nozzles, offers 5-l ink tanks and ranges in size from the 70-in. XC180 and 83-in. XC210 to the 98-in. XC250 and 126-in. XC320.

The top speed for the series is 385 to 760 sq ft/hr in Draft mode (depending on printing width), Standard speeds range from 300 to 321 sq ft/hr, and High Quality speeds range from 118 to 160 sq ft/hr.

Compatible with vinyl, perforated vinyl, polyester, banners, paper, or canvas, the XC printers also feature an automatic cleaning system (with positive pressure) and heating/cooling systems (pre-heater, front heater, and post-printing fan system for quick drying).

Prices: XC320 6-color, $71,600; XC320 4-color, $65,600; XC250 6-color, $60,000; XC250 4-color, $54,000.

The lighter-frame XE series printers offer Seiko printheads with 255 nozzles. Equipped with 1-l ink tanks, XE printers are available in 126- and 70-in. widths and offer top speeds that are half that of the XC printers.
