SGIA Presents Inaugural Sustainability Awards

Awards recognize extensive efforts in sustainability.

SGIA recently St. Paul, Minnesota-based Big Ink Display Graphics, Stillwater, Minnesota-based Modernistic, and Seattle-based Stella Color with its inaugural Sustainability Recognition Award, given to those specialty imaging companies that demonstrate extensive efforts in corporate sustainability.

To qualify, companies were required to submit a copy of their sustainability policy. Additionally, each company outlined a series of goals for the coming year. BIG INK plans to reduce roof temperatures by 30 degrees with the purchase of a new building that included a roof deck, skylights and a white roof, while Modernistic plans to reduce its energy consumption by 60 percent by switching to compact, modular, high-intensity fluorescent fixtures. And, Stella Color expects to reduce its waste disposal tonnage by five percent and offer employees alternate commuting options.
