SGIA Honors 2011 Sustainability Recognition Award Winners

SGIA has honored 17 specialty-imaging companies for completing the 2011 Sustainability Recognition Program.

To be considered, companies submitted a copy of their sustainability policy. Judges looked at waste reduction, recycling programs, and the formation of “green committees” in the workplace.

“Sustainability is more than just going green,” says SGIA’s vice president of government and business information Marci Kinter. “Sustainability looks at the people, the profit, and the planet, and these companies have made changes today that will have an enormous impact on the community in the future.”

Winners included: ARC Southern California of Irvine, California; Aurora Specialty Textiles Group of Aurora, Illinois; ConVerd of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; GFX International of Grayslake, Illinois; Insta Graphic Systems of Cerritos, California; Kent Pad Printer Canada Inc. of Markham, Ontario; Canada; Laird Plastics of Boca Raton, Florida; Marabu GmbH & Co. KG of Tamm, Germany; MicroGreen Polymers of Arlington, Washington; Modernistic of Stillwater, Minnesota; OAI Inc. of Tampa, Florida; Portland Color of Portland, Maine; Precision Images of Portland, Oregon; Primex Plastics of Richmond, Indiana; Rainier Industries of Tukwila, Washington; RockTenn Merchandising Displays of Winston Salem, North Carolina; and Serigraph of West Bend, Wisconsin.

Additionally, SGIA has created a Sustainability Peer-to-Peer Network where companies from around the globe meet via teleconference to discuss sustainable business practices in the imaging industry.
