SGIA 06 Draws More Than 20,700

Las Vegas event sets attendance and exhibit records.

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) reports that the 2006 edition of its Specialty Printing & Imaging Expo drew more than 20,700 industry professionals to Las Vegas.

More than 80% of attendees were from the US, the association reports. The top three states represented were: California (25.7% of attendees), Illinois (5.6%), and Texas (5%). The remaining attendees represented 105 various countries, including: Canada (4.5%), Mexico (2.4%) and Japan (1%).

On its website, the SGIA reports that the attendance figure for the 06 event is about 43% higher than its previous record: 14,529 in 1994. In addition, says the association, its 598 exhibitors in Las Vegas beats it previous record of 510 at SGIA 2000.

Four noteworthy awards given at SGIA 06:

* 2006 DPI Innovator Award: Richard Codos, Leggett & Platt Digital Technologies

SGIA '07 will be held at the Orlando County Convention Center in Florida, October 24-27, 2007.
