Seal to Use D&K SuperStick for Lamination Challenges

Seal Graphics Americas has signed a deal for premier distribution rights of the D&K Group's innovative SuperStick? heat-assist, linerless, pressure-sensitive adhesive. Seal's Angie Mohni calls SuperStick “an exciting breakthrough for digital-printing users” because it can help solve some of the challenges associated with laminating inkjet prints that aren't fully dry or created with certain ink and media combinations.

D&K tested SuperStick with both inkjet prints and documents output from toner-based devices such as color copiers and was impressed with the results. “No longer will graphics shops need to stock a number of finishing products—SuperStick sticks to it all,” says Tom Pidgeon, VP of Sales for D&K Group. And, because the adhesive doesn't require a liner, laminator operators avoid the need for complicated webbing set-ups.

SuperStick Mounting and Laminating System: At the PMA Show, the D&K Group introduced a pouch-laminating system that can be used to adhere laminated graphics to a wide range of rigid substrates. Each polyester pouch contains D&K's SuperStick low-melt adhesive on the inside for encapsulating prints and also on the outside back of the pouch. Users simply insert a digital print (toner-based or inkjet-based) into the pouch, align the pouch on a rigid substrate, and run it through a heated roll laminator at 160″? to 200″?F. Pouches range in size from 9 x 11-1/2 in. to 36 x 48-in. and are available in gloss or matte finishes. (D&K Group: www.dkgroup.com; Seal Graphics: www.sealgraphics.com)
