Clearcoating has become an increasingly popular method of protecting digitally output graphics. As Seal's Jim Tatum notes, clearcoatings “meet the cost targets that today's print producers require.” Clearcoating also more goof-proof than applying laminating films.

That's why Seal Graphics has added five new application-specific clearcoats to its AquaSEAL? line of liquid laminating products. Suitable for indoor and outdoor graphics, the water-based coatings have low VOC levels. According to Tatum, “They are easy on the senses, which makes for a more agreeable work environment.”

AquaSeal Anti Graffiti is a water-based urethane coating that resists permanent marking by paint, ink, wax, and other substances used to deface signs and display. It is formulated for automated application.

AquaSeal Fleet is a semigloss coating engineered for pressure-sensitive and flex-vinyl fleet graphics applications. The coating is designed to retain the clarity of the image graphics and avoids image distortion and color shifts as graphics are applied to the varying shapes and surface textures of a vehicle.

AquaSeal Anti Glare is an ultra-matte coating that limits reflection and glare while maintaining a clear view of the image. It is recommended for trade-show graphics, museum displays, set designs, or any other application in which the graphics will be displayed under bright lights.

AquaSeal Sign & Banner is a machine-applied coating designed to provide maximum sharpness and visual impact for banner-type graphics. The coating uses a stable, water-based acrylic urethane with UV inhibitors to provide “mid-term” outdoor durability. It is available in a gloss or matte finish.

AquaSeal Economy Sign & Banner can be applied either through a liquid laminator or manually with a brush, paint pad, or short-nap roller. Its extremely quick drying times reduces some of the handling concerns associated with manually applied coatings. This product is available in gloss or matte finishes.

All AquaSeal liquid laminates are available in 5-gallon pails or 55-gallon drums. (Seal Graphics Americas: www.sealgraphics.com)
