Seal has introduced the new 62 Base laminator, as well as the Ultra Plus series, an improved version of its Ultra models.

Similar to the Seal 54 Base laminator introduced in 2006, the new Seal 62 Base laminator is aimed at medium-sized digital-graphic producers. With a top speed of 16.4 ft/min and maximum width of 61 in., the 62 Base features a low-heat top roller for heat-assisted, pressure-sensitive laminates; the added heat improves the lay-down performances of many PSA films. The roller nip opening can accommodate media up to 2-in. thick.

Features of the 62 Base include: auto-grip supply shafts, swing-up feed table, adjustable pressure and speed settings, manual nip adjustment, a foot switch, ergonomic controls, and full safety systems. The laminator also offers two new options: a lower auto take-up shaft for removing release liners, and a roll-to-roll laminating system for volume print finishing.

Price of the 62 Base: $9849.

Seal has also launched improved versions of its Ultra line of laminators-the Ultra Plus. Aimed at entry-level to intermediate-level finishers working in low- to mid-volume shops, the new laminators in the series include: the 43-in. Seal 44 Ultra Plus with dual heated rollers and the Seal 44 Ultra S Plus with a single heated roller; the 61-in. Seal 62 models include the Seal 62 Ultra Plus with dual heated rollers; the Seal 62 Ultra S Plus with a single heated roller; and the cold-only Seal 62 Ultra C Plus.

The key improvements that give these models their 'Plus' designation include the addition of an auto take-up shaft for removing release liners and the dual-heat option. In addition, the 44 Ultra Plus and 44 Ultra S Plus operate on 110V power, allowing small shops to expand their range of services, without having to install 220V electric service.

Features carried over from the Ultra models include touch-pad controls, adjustable speeds up to 5 ft/min for heated and 10 ft/min for cold machines, maximum substrate thickness up to 1/2-in., pre-set temperatures, silicone rollers, foot controls, and safety systems.
