Scitex Vision unveiled its new CORjet Premium
press at the SuperCorr Expo in
Atlanta in late 2004. The CorJet Premium
is an on-demand digital printer specifically
geared toward corrugated packing
and P-O-P displays.

Based on the company's standard Cor-
Jet, which it will replace when it becomes
available in early 2005, the new Premium
press is a 600-dpi piezo drop-on-demand
inkjet printer that uses Scitex's Aprion
technology and aqueous pigmented
VisionInks. New features to the Premium
unit, reports Scitex Vision, include: a new
inking system and way of jetting the ink,
new software, and more. Plus, because
the ink formulation has changed, the
press has an increased range of substrates
it can print on.

The CorJet Premium is available in
either a 4-color (CMYK) or 6-color version
(CMYKcm). It can handle media up
to 63 x 126 in., and up to 0.39 in. thick. It
boasts a throughput of up to 1614 sq
ft/hr and will print on a variety of rigid
substrates “?paper board, corrugated
board, plastic board, foamboard, PVC,
polypropylene, and other paper-based
liners on rigid substrates.

The CorJet Premium comprises the
print engine, ApriRip software, a CorJet system
controller, an automatic substrate
loader/unloader, and an integrated dryer
unit. Once distributed by Belcom, the Cor-
Jet is now distributed by Scitex Vision.
Price: $890,000. Note: Existing CorJet owners
can upgrade to the “premium” spec.

Scitex Vision also has launched the new
UV-curable VEEjet+, a drop-on-demand
piezo inkjet digital flatbed that's based upon
the company's standard VeeJet. The new
VeeJet+ will replace the standard VeeJet.

The VeeJet+ adds new software and a
new, user-friendly interface. In addition,
new step-and-repeat and file-preview
functions allow for higher quality and
faster turnaround. The VeeJet+ uses Scitex
Vision's new VisionInk UV200
Supreme range of pigmented inks, which
offer higher flexibility (allowing users to
cut and fold products postprint) and
enhanced adhesion, says the company.

The VeeJet+ can now print on a wide
range of media”?from rigid PVC, foamboard,
and glass, to flexible banner,
vinyl, and paper”?up to 6.5 x 10 ft in size
and in thicknesses up to 1.5 in. Print is
up to a resolution of 720 dpi, with output
speeds up to 387 sq ft/hr. The printer has
a stationary vacuum table”?the printheads
travel the length of the substrate
during the imaging process; the substrate
does not move. The VeeJet+ now
offers pin positioning, which allows for
double-sided printing and easier media
handling.

The VeeJet+, available in early 2005,
comes with a dedicated Onyx PosterShop
RIP. Price: $300,000. Existing VeeJet customers
can upgrade to the VeeJet+ version. (Scitex Vision: www.scitexvision.com)
