Roland DGA has introduced the VersaExpress RF-640, a 64-in. inkjet printer.

The new printer features: a top speed of 521.9 sq ft/hr; mirrored printhead configuration (CMYK); Eco-Sol Max 2 inks; variable-dot function (seven different dot sizes); resolutions up to 1400 dpi; and the ability to accommodate roll media up to 110 lbs.

RF-640’s new Roland Ink Switching System supports continuous, unattended printing by allowing users to load a backup cartridge that automatically discharges ink to the printer when the primary cartridge is empty, according to Roland. The new Roland Printer Assist enables the user to manage production, test-printing, and cleaning functions directly from an iPad tablet.
Other features include front-loading ink cartridges, media loading levers at both the front and back of the printer, media brackets, and a take-up unit.

The RF-640 comes bundled with: Roland’s VersaWorks RIP software, which includes built-in Pantone spot color libraries and a Predictive Ink Calculator that estimates the amount of ink needed to complete each job, and can operate up to four Roland devices,; and Roland OnSupport, which automatically sends email or text messages to a user’s computer or smart phone when a print job is complete or ink is running low.
MSRP price: $16,995
