Roland DG has announced that Masahiro Tomioka, representative director, chairman, and president, will vacate his post as president following a board of directors’ resolution on March 24. Roland DG Director and Executive VP Hidenori Fujioka will take Tomioka’s place as president, saying he intends “to turn the company into a more progressive and innovative organization to achieve sustainable growth,” in a release.

“My goal is to shift our business to a new digital era model that will serve as a foundation for the next big leap in growth by capitalizing on our GlobalOne business platform,” Fujioka adds. Entering his third year with Roland DG after tenures at Riso Kagaku and Seiko Instruments, he has been known for spearheading developments in areas including 3D and UV printing technologies.

The company says the shift is part of a new mid-term business plan for 2016-20 featuring a new organizational structure for new business development. Tomioka, who served as president for 30 years, says, “As we look toward the next 30 years, we aim to use the GlobalOne platform to … create multiple pillars of business to meet the needs of the coming era.”
