Last fall, Roland DGA introduced its Pro II series of HiFi JET, CAMMJET, and SOLJET printers and printer-cutters with significantly ramped-up throughput speeds, more than 100 engineering advancements, and new SelectColor? RIP/print-management software. Utilizing one-in.-wide printheads and multiple high-speed CPUs, the printers can output 450-dpi graphics at speeds of up to 300 sq ft/hr.

Initially, Roland's Pro II Series included a 54-in. version of the HiFi Jet inkjet printer, a 54-in. version of the CammJet printer/cutter, and 54-in and 72-in. versions of the SolJet mild-solvent inkjet printer, including a 54-in. printer/cutter model.

The newest and sixth model added to the Pro II series is a 74-in. version of the Hi-Fi Jet Pro II. Popular for fine-art and photo reproduction, the six-color Hi-Fi Jet Pro II uses variable-drop technology to produce print resolutions up to 1440 x 1440 dpi. It can print with pigmented or dye-based inks. Dubbed the HiFi Jet Pro II FJ-740, the new printer lists for $29,995 and is currently shipping. Leasing is available.
