Re-Investigate Photography at Parsons School of Design

Parsons School of Design in New York has announced a new 26-month, 64-credit MFA program entitled “Photography and Related Technologies.” Blending practice and theory, the program will educate photographers about the evolving creative position of today's photographer”?especially in relationship to emerging imaging technologies and new media.

According to Michelle Bogre, who chairs the photography department at Parsons, the program will enable graduate students to re-investigate the field of photography. “Even better,” she notes, “It gives them a forum to explore evolving technologies. Students will not only be on the cutting edge, but will be defining that edge for others to follow.”

Program participants will complete requirements during three consecutive 8-week sessions. Following an intensive summer session in residence at Parsons School of Design, students will engage in independent study and on-line learning during the fall and spring sessions. The fall and spring sessions will culminate with five-day residencies in January and June. During the distributed learning sessions, students will work on studio projects under the online supervision of an advisor.
