Pantone Color Institute and the Prince Estate have released a standardized custom color to pay tribute to the late international music, art, and fashion icon Prince. “Love Symbol #2” () is a purple hue inspired by Prince’s custom-made Yamaha purple piano and longtime association with the color since the release of the film and song “Purple Rain” in 1984.

“Love Symbol #2 is emblematic of Prince’s distinctive style. … [It] enables Prince’s unique purple shade to be consistently replicated and maintain the same iconic status as the man himself,” says Laurie Pressman, VP of the Pantone Color Institute in a release.
