Nearly all experts interviewed for this article agree that UV-curable inks for wide-format inkjets are still in their infancy. The first generation of inks were formulated primarily to make it possible to digitally print directly onto uncoated rigid substrates, although these multi-purpose inks can also be used on some rolled goods as well. Additional lamination or clearcoating may or may not be required, depending on the level of gloss, ink-adhesion, and durability the graphic requires.
