Onyx Graphics has released version 6.5 of
its Color Production Workflow Software
packages, including Onyx Production-
House, PosterShop, and RIPCenter software.
Version 6.5 includes performance
improvements as well as a new Ink Usage
Tracking feature.

Version 6.5 has been optimized to run
on Intel Pentium IV and greater platforms.
Onyx reports that users will see performance
improvements of 20% to 30% over
version 6.0 when working on the recommended
platform.

Also added to 6.5 is a new Ink Usage
Tracking feature. This feature enables
users to estimate the amount of ink that
will be used for a particular project before
the print is run. Tracking is available for all
dot patterns and resolutions. The information
is then retained in a job log for
easy access and customization, enabling
the user to make ink-usage adjustments
for optimal output and profit.

All Onyx RIPs continue to be based on
Onyx's RIP-Queue core technology. In
addition, all feature: a spot-color lookup
table for Pantone color matching; the ability
to create custom spot colors; ICC-compliant
media profiles; a user-friendly print
queue; job thumbnails; nesting preview;
tiling; and more.

Suggested list prices: Production-
House: $4995; PosterShop: $2995; RIPCenter:
$1195. Users of version 6.0 can
upgrade to 6.5 for free. Users of version 5.5
and 5.6 can upgrade to 6.5 by purchasing
a Product Upgrade ($395 to $995, depending
upon the software package). (Onyx Graphics: www.onyxgfx.com)
