Onyx Graphics' 5.6.1 series of print-management software now include drivers for HP Designjet 120 Series inkjet printers and the Mimaki JV3-250SP. The drivers make it possible for graphic designers to create color-accurate press proofs on the HP Designjet 120 and for screen printers to use the Mimaki JV3 to match digital output to their screen-printed work.

The driver for the 24-in. multi-format HP Designjet 120 printer includes the ability to modify attributes associated with a specific resolution; an automatic cutting selection; four quality modes (Best, Fast, Normal, Superbest); and profiles for HP Dye inks on four types of HP media: HP Coated Paper, Proofing Glossy, Proofing Matte, and Proofing Semigloss. Users of Onyx Proof Prepress Color Workflow Solution Software will be able to generate color-accurate press proofs on the HP Designjet 120.

The driver for Mimaki's JV3-250SP 98-in. solvent-system inkjet printer includes Onyx Virtual Pixel? resolutions that drive the printer at its full resolution capability of up to 1440 dpi but process the output up to eight times faster than normal. Onyx's driver for the printer includes stochastic screening and error diffusion that can simulate traditional screen printing. Users can also create custom screen dot-patterns with custom dot sizes, screen angles, and frequency. These tools can be used to create rosette screens that enable screen printers to more closely match digital output to traditional output. With the JV3-250SP, Onyx recommends using Onyx ProductionHouse? software, because it includes fast RIP technology optimized for larger, grand-format PostScript and raster files and the ability to RIP two files simultaneously.

Registered licensed users of the Onxy 5.61 software can download the drivers at no charge from the Onyx website. (Onyx Graphics: www.onyxgfx.com)
