Oce has expanded its Arizona family of printers with the introduction of the Arizona 350 XT flatbed. This latest Arizona model sports an extra-large 8 x 10-ft vacuum table allowing for the production of rigid prints as large as 98.4 x 120 in. and also adds options for white ink and roll media.

Designed to be a true production printer, the 4-color (CMYK) 350 XT printer features UV-ink technology and production print speeds up to 248 sq ft/hr on rigid media (up to 188 sq ft/hr in its optional roll-media mode). This enables users to print nearly 60 4 x 8-foot boards in a single eight-hour shift, or more than 1615 square feet of flexible media, Oce reports. The machine also features the company's VariaDot imaging technology, which can produce droplet sizes from 6 to 42 picoliters.

The available White Ink Option enables under-printing for non-white media or objects, over-printing for backlit applications on transparent media, and printing white as a spot color. The option can be factory added or upgraded in the field. The printer's Roll Media Option adds the ability to print onto flexible media including vinyl, self-adhesive vinyl, scrim banner, paper, and blue-backed paper without compromising the rigid-printing workflow. The media roll can be unloaded at any time without interrupting rigid printing, and there's no downtime to reconfigure the system to change from one print mode to the other, the company points out. With the Roll Media Option installed, users can print onto flexible media up to 87 inches wide.

The extra width of the Arizona 350 XT printer enables it to be used in a continuous imaging mode for rigid media up to 49.2 x 98.4 in., or a standard 4 x 8-ft. board. Two rigid boards of this size can be mounted on separate vacuum areas of the flatbed table; while one board is being printed, the other can be changed by the operator. It can accommodate materials up to 1.89-in. thick.

Also available is a Static Suppression Kit option, for improving printing reliability on materials prone to hold a static charge such as acrylic, polycarbonate, and styrene (it does not lessen or negate the need to control RH in the environment). An ionizing bar is fitted to the gantry of the printer to electrically charge the air above the media surface immediately prior to imaging; the charge effectively neutralizes static electricity present on the media surface.

The Arizona 350 XT comes standard with an Onyx ProductionHouse RIP, Oce Edition. The printer is scheduled to make its US debut at ISA in Las Vegas.
