NUR has previewed its latest superwide UV-curable printer: the Expedio 3200. Shown at this spring's Viscom 2005 show in Germany, the rollfed Expedio 3200 offers 4- and 8-color (CMYKcmyk) printing modes and accommodates media up to 130-in. wide. It can produce roll-to-roll, roll-to-sheet, and multi-roll printing and has the ability to simultaneously handle two rolls of media to optimize printing capacity.

The 3200 features resolutions of 360 dpi (720 dpi apparent) and speeds up to 1300 sq ft/hr in 4-color X-Press mode. The changeover from 4- to 8-colors is easy and gives users the flexibility to print in the most cost-effective manner. The proprietary UV-curable inks offer outdoor durability of up to 2 years without coating or lamination, Nur reports.

The Expedio also features a modular design, which allows for future updates. For instance, Nur expects to offer a printhead carriage with an additional row of printheads to boost productivity, as well as a carriage to support interfacing with different types of printheads for better quality or speed; these features will be able to added more quickly due to the printer's modular construction. In addition, the Expedio 3200 will accept external add-ons, such as in-line varnish options, to increase productivity.

Standard equipment includes the Nur RIP (SoftRIP by Wasatch), and an integrated output collector; optional equipment includes a double-sided printing module. The Expedio 3200 will begin shipping in Q1 2006.
