Smaller print shops that cannot find a place in their budgets for a NexPress 2100 may like the new entry-level 4-color NexPress 2100 plus.

The 2100 plus is a fully modular system, with extra modules including: extra feeders or delivery modules to increase paper capacity”?with standard and optional paper capacities of up to 11,000 sheet input capacity (compared to the 2100's total capacity of 6500); an optional fifth imaging unit for spot colors, watermarking, varnish, and glossing; and the scalable front-end processing unit, the NexStation IV. This modularity allows customers to upgrade their system as their business grows.

Currently, the 2100 plus offers speeds of 70 pages/min or 2100 pages/hr (the same as the 2100) In Q1 06, however, it will receive a speed upgrade, allowing it to operate at the same speed as the company's upcoming NexPress 2500 (see below).

The 2100 plus also offers additional substrate flexibility, including expanded paper sizes, substrate weights and thicknesses, and substrate types. And, to increase user serviceability and uptime, the 2100 plus provides more than 40 operator-replaceable components.

In Q1 2006, NexPress will unveil its 2500, with high-volume capability of producing 2500 A3 sheets/hr. All features and functionality available on the 2500 will be able to be added as upgrade options to the NexPress 2100 plus.

Price: NexPress 2100 plus, $349,000.
