Nikon’s new D90 is a 12.3-Mpxl DSLR that features a shutter speed that ranges from 1/4000 to 30 sec, an ISO range of 200 to 3200 for low-noise images, and an 11-point autofocus that utilizes a refined version of Nikon’s Multi-Cam 1000 AF module.

The D90 also features: Nikon’s Expeed image-processing system, designed to provide smooth tones, rich colors, and defined image details; Nikon’s 3-D color matrix metering II, to help ensure accurate exposures; and Nikon’s Scene Recognition System, which interprets color and brightness and applies changes to auto-focus, auto exposure, and auto white balance. The D90 also has a face-detection system; an image-sensor cleaning function; and new options for in-camera image enhancement including distortion control, straightening tools, and fisheye-effect tools.

Other features include a 3-in. LCD screen with 170-degree angle of view, an image playback function, a viewfinder with 0.94x magnification, a built-in flash, and a newly introduced D-movie mode, which allows users to create HD movie clips at a 24-frame-per-second rate. The camera is available with Nikon’s Nikkor lenses and is compatible with Capture NX2 photo editing software.

Price: $999.95, body only; $1299.95, body and AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens.
