Oce introduced the next generation of its Arizona nameplate at SGIA, as well as a new ProCut digital cutting system, and a tool to help make for easier installation of its GT printers.

The company’s new Arizona 350 GT printer is a flatbed inkjet with white ink capability and high production speeds; a Roll Media option allows for printing on flexible materials.

The printer is offered with a four-color (CMYK) or optional five-color (CMYK+white) inkset. The UV inks have been specially formulated for the Oce Arizona series and are supplied in 2-liter “quick exchange” ink bags; a vacuum wand is provided for cleaning the printheads, reducing the need for excessive purges. The White Ink Option (added at the factory or in the field) enables underprinting for non-white media or objects, overprinting for backlit applications on transparent media, and printing white as a spot color.

The maximum speed on the 350 GT is 239 sq ft/hr (188 sq ft/hr in roll-fed mode) and it uses Oce Variadot technology to jet droplets as small as 6 pl to achieve image quality comparable to 1440 dpi or more, the company reports. The system supports rigid media up to 49 x 98.4 in. and 1.89-in. thick; the Roll Media option accommodates roll-fed media up to 86.6-in. wide and allows users to instantly switch between flatbed and roll-fed applications with no reconfiguration required.

Other features include: an integrated vacuum table; full-bleed printing support; and an onboard de-gassing system to ensure maximum jetting reliability. The optional RIP is Onyx ProductionHouse Oce edition.

Price of the Arizona 350 GT: $141,900; roll media option is an additional $21,500 (factory or field); white ink option is $15,000 factory install ($25,000 field upgrade).

Oce’s new ProCut digital cutting system, manufactured for it by Zund, is a flatbed cutter that features software providing advanced nesting capability, which enables the use of less-costly, large standard boards that can be cut in house rather than outsourcing expensive pre-cut materials. The system also compensates for any material distortion that may occur during printing. Limited European distribution only at present.

Additionally, Oce demonstrated a new tool it has developed to make for easier installation of its GT printers. The Tilt and Go system is a hand-operated lift system that raises and rotates the printer so that it can be moved through standard, 48-in.-wide doorways.

The Tilt and Go is shipped to a customer site when pre-installation survey shows that the flatbed cannot be unloaded and installed in its native flat, four-wheels-on-the-floor configuration. Charge is on a case-by-case basis.
