The recently released ValueJet printer from Mutoh previously offered speeds up to 100 sq ft/hr.; the company has now increased its top speed by 40%, to 140 sq ft/hr.

Responsible for the new speed, Mutoh reports, is the machine’s new Y-Rail design and piezo printheads. The Y-rail system is a sturdier extrusion for the printhead-carriage assembly, which provides greater rigidity for better accuracy on the X axis. The resultant better accuracy helps achieve improved ink-drop placement and faster printing. The printhead is a single 8-channel Epson printhead with two colors/channel. Because it is a single printhead (previous models had multiple printheads), says the company, head-to-head alignment errors are eliminated.

In addition, other changes also have been made to the ValueJet: Its feed roller and feed encoder have been improved to provide greater accuracy and improved print quality. And it now also includes FlexPrint RIP software from SAi, a starter set of Eco-Ultra ink, and a 1-yr onsite warranty.

Price: $14,995; can be combined with 48-in. Ultima cutter for $21,995.
