QUESTION:

Does any of your staff work remotely?

YES: 60%

NO: 40%

  • We have a few members of the team, primarily on the backend, what we call our resource team, that work remotely. They provide support functions for our project managers and production teams. The main reason we do this comes down to there simply being a dearth of qualified people for the roles we have in our area. We would prefer to have people within the office doing the work, but that has just proven impossible in some cases. — Wade Neff, Strategic Factory, Owings Mills, MD
  • In fact everyone does. We broke our company into components and work out of our own home studios now.— Jim Dittmer, JDA Creative Color, Gresham, OR
  • At Olympus, we would love to have everyone in the office every day (for collaboration and culture) but we understand this doesn’t work for everyone. We provide flexibility and allow remote work with the understanding and expectation that every individual has a job to do. If you can get results remotely, that works for us.  We even have production employees who work remotely and deliver. — Brian Adam, Olympus Group, Milwaukee, WI
  • Sales staff are able to work remotely and some are in two to three days a week. Out of state workers are remote and include Customer Service, Project Management, and engineering. — Brian Hite, Image Options, Foothill Ranch, CA

  • Hybrid – it only works if they were familiar with our industry. I would not hire for an integral role since our products are tangible. I do have assistants to do documentation and reporting of information that is not as time sensitive as the actual production of signage. — Linda Fong, Justipher Inc., Dba Fastsigns Oakland; Fastsigns Hayward, Oakland, CA
  • But only when they are writing grant proposals and need absolute focus! — Barbara Allen, Fresh Artists, Philadelphia, PA

  • We recently offered remote work to a wonderful employee whose husband was transferred out of state on 2-year military training mission. Because she is a super person and employee, but also considering her family’s sacrifice were we so pleased to offer it. — Jim White, Go Graphix, East Longmeadow, MA
  • Prepress does half days remote to accommodate family issues. — Rick Mandel, Mandel Graphic Solutions, Glendale, WI
