The Promotion Company in Indianapolis produces nearly 30 family and motorsports events across the country every year. To promote ticket sales to its 2008 Four Wheel Jamboree Nationals Monster Truck event, sponsored by Pepsi, the company chose to use point-of-purchase and P-O-P specialist KDM POP Solutions Group in Cincinnati.

Graphics were provided by The Promotion Company in the form of print-ready PDFs. KDM added bleeds and die lines, and pole display construction, then used its Inca Columbia Turbo Plus UV flatbed to produce the majority of the elements for each of the 150 kits that Pepsi bottlers would place in grocery stores, including:

* 150 48 x 48-inch standees on 200# B-Flute Kemlite (Crane Composites), “because it's rigid enough for a standee and can be die-cut,” says Maureen Gumbert, KDM account manager;
* 150 22 x 28-inch posters on 24-pt C1S Tango cardstock from MeadWestVaco;
* 500 2-liter 18 x 28-inch bottle display pole signs on 18-pt Tango C1S cardstock;
* 300 18 x 18-inch ceiling danglers on 24-pt C1S Tango cardstock; and
* 1500 coupon tear pads at 5 x 4-inches.

In addition, the shop used its HP TurboJet 8500 UV to produce 150 4 x 6-inch cold case window decals onto General Formulations pressure-sensitive vinyl for each kit.

Finishing took about a half a day. KDM used its Esko MGE i-cut digital die cutter to score and cut the holes needed on the display pole signs and for die-cutting the standees. A Challenge drill was used to drill the holes on the ceiling display signs in the company's bindery department.

Because installation would be handled by Pepsi bottlers all over central Pennsylvania, KDM had only to concern itself with the shipping, which didn't pose a problem for the company thanks to its 25,000-square-foot fulfillment department. “The turn time was the biggest challenge,” says Gumbert, but they still managed to do so in just four business days, she points out. “We had the display poles and ceiling hardware shipped directly from our merchandising accessory supplier to Pepsi in order to meet the deadline.”
