Mimaki USA has introduced two new sublimation printers: the TS500-1800 for transfer sublimation, and the TX500-1800DS for direct sublimation (onto pre-treated polyester fabrics). Both are 6-color printers (CMYKcm) that can accommodate media up to 75-in. wide; max resolution is 600 x 1200 dpi and top speed is 1615 sq ft/hr (at 300 x 600 dpi).

Each model features the MDM-20 Mimaki Degassing Module (enabling the printer to use bottled inks) and an optional TxLinkPro RIP. MSRP: $99,995 for the TS500-1800; $109,995 for the TX500-1800DS.

At SGIA 2012, the JFX500-2131 UV LED flatbed made its official US launch. Labeled a “technology demo” at last year’s Drupa (July issue), the flatbed offers three ink types: LUS-150, a new high-speed ink (CMYK + W), LH-100, a “hard” UV ink (CMYK + W) and LF-140, a flexible UV ink for 6-color printing (CMYKcm + W). It can print on media up to 82 x 122 in. and up to 2-in. thick. Top resolution is 1200 dpi; it boasts a top speed of 646 sq ft/hr at 600 dpi (484 sq ft/hr with white ink at 600 dpi). MSRP is $189,995.

Also at SGIA: The company showcased its JV400-130/160 SUV printer, which received an initial announcement early last year (March issue). The 4-color printer is available in two widths (54- and 64-in.) and features the company’s Solvent UV ink, which comprises a solvent component to fix the pigment and then performs UV curing once the pigment if fixed to the media. A 3 Way Intelligent Heater heats the media before, during, and after printing; a UV-curing unit is also utilized. Top speed is 194 sq ft/hr in draft mode; 144 sq ft/hr in standard mode (1200 dpi); top resolution is 1200 dpi. RasterLink 6 software RIP is bundled. MSRP: $29,995 (54-in.) and $31,995 (64-in.).
