MGE has launched its i-cut version 6.2, which includes several new features designed to make cutting graphics easier.

Its new ai-cut plug-in for Illustrator allows users to insert registration marks, generate predefined i-cut layers, and check files for output. The plug-in is available as a free download.

MGE also has added a distortion-reporting feature that allows users to view and record distortions detected by the i-cut vision registration system to improve quality control. In addition, 6.2’s new preflight function shows how a specific router bit will route the design. Seeing how one bit finishes a graphic allows users to choose another bit or modify the design to achieve the accuracy desired.

Other new features include the ability to drill holes, new milling/routing tools and features, a backup feature, sheetfeeder communication, user-selected speed, and ability to select standard configurations as well as manual setup of the system.

In addition, MGE has added an Automatic Off-loader/Stacker Pick-and-Place process to its Esko iXL digital systems, making the i-cut/iXL machine completely automated. The new i-cut Off-loader is based on robotic technology, which picks up completed graphics and moves them onto stacking tables to the side of the conveyor system. This allows the scrap to be collected at the end of the conveyor without the need for human intervention. This option will sell for $40,000.

The company also is re-introducing its Auto-weeding system in conjunction with its i-cut Kongsberg product line. Designed for auto-weeding decals from a sheet, the new unit offers improved performance and higher speeds. The weeder system sells for approximately $60,000.
