Kolorfusion Expects Dye-Sub Breakthrough to Open Outdoor Markets

Kolorfusion believes that its new surface-decoration technology for dye-sublimation printing can open up new applications for dye-sub-decorated products in outdoor environments. According to Kolorfusion president Steve Nagel, “We can now print any image digitally, then put that image into our coatings, which can then be exposed to architectural outdoor standards.” He listed potential applications as signage, floor tiles, decorating ceramic tiles, and railings.

The Kolorfusion technology will be launched in conjunction with Hilord Chemical Corp, a NY-based developer manufacturer of dye-sublimation inks for digital printers. Kolorfusion and Hilord have entered into a longer-term manufacturing and development agreement, in which the two companies will develop and manufacture Kolorfusion's sublimation coating products using Hilord's dyes.

Hilord president Donald Balbinder states, “In our opinion, the Kolorfusion name will become a well-known brand not only to OEMs, but also to architects, retailers and, most importantly, to consumers. Now we can put a digital picture into a coating that can be walked upon and meet industry standards for fade resistance.”
