At Graph Expo, Kodak previewed Version 4.0 of its Kodak Prinergy workflow solution. The new version includes Kodak Colorflow technology and features support for the Kodak Unified Workflow solution, allowing greater integration and color accuracy throughout the operation, a new level of collaboration with customers, and new options for scalability, efficiency, and automation.

Version 4.0 integrates Adobe’s new PDF Print Engine with enhanced transparency capabilities that reduce the occurrence of artifacts being introduced when files are refined, as well as increasing the speed, consistency, and reliability of the processing of complex files that include transparency elements. Prinergy Version 4 also delivers enhanced Layered PDF Versioning, introducing support for layered PDF input files.

“Dashboard,” a new Prinergy system introduced in version 4, is a distributed browser-based interface for providing status and progress during production. It offers prepress management and customer service representatives a better visibility into the production process with an overall view of job status across single or multiple Prinergy workflow systems throughout an operation.

Other features include enhanced options for production reporting and automated data exchange between MIS systems; an optional Digital Print Manager software that enables automated digital print production; and enhanced Rules-Based Automation that expands the range of production events supported, resulting in greater JDF support, flexibility, and control in production.

In other Kodak news, the company has upgraded its Kodak Profile Wizard Mio to version 4.0. The software allows users to create and edit ICC devices and DeviceLink profiles in ICC v. 4.0 format.

The company also launched Kodak Nexpress System 8.5 software for use with its Nexpress 2100 and Nexpress 2500 digital production color presses. System 8.5 features expanded JDF capabilities and Kodak’s new Kodak Staccato DX FM screening technology with multibit frequency.
